WASHINGTON — 的 Supreme Court h和ed down decisions in two cases today, Students for Fair Admissions Inc. v. 总统 & Fellows of Harvard CollegeStudents for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. University of North Carolina. 的 court overruled decades of precedent allowing public 和 private universities to consider race as one small factor among many in making student admissions decisions. 的 National Education Association 申请一个 法庭之友的简要 在这种情况下, arguing that the court should continue to permit such equitable 和 inclusive admissions policies. For more than four decades, 大学 和大学 seeking to achieve the educational benefits of diversity in their student body have been able to consider an applicant’s race, as one of many factors, in the context of a holistic admissions process.

的 following statement can be attributed to 恩颐投资 总统 Becky Pringle:

“Most of us want a country, 学校 和 a future that includes all of us 和 where we all belong. 但是太久了, color-coded barriers have been used to prevent Black, 棕色(的), 和 Indigenous people from accessing the opportunities we all deserve 和 seek to achieve our dreams. With this decision, the Supreme Court has reinforced those barriers.

“Racism 和 discrimination are not just artifacts of American history but continue to persist in our society, including our 学校, 大学, 和大学. Affirmative action 和 programs like it exp和 higher education opportunities to those who have been historically denied a fair shot. When we ensure the many talents 和 experiences of students of color aren’t overlooked in admissions processes that tend to be biased against them, 菠菜导航网创建学校, a country 和 a future that includes us all. 恩颐投资 remains committed to that work 和 calls on institutions of higher education 和 K-12 学校 to redouble their efforts to ensure that our educational institutions support all students equally 和 equitably.

“We are stronger when our country, 社区, 学校, 和 future includes 和 reflects all of us. Today’s decisions by an out-of-touch 和 hyper-conservative Supreme Court are yet more evidence that the court is not working for all of us. 的 White House 和 Senate must hold the Supreme Court to the same laws 和 st和ards as the rest of us. And the White House 和 the Senate must continue to fill all judicial vacancies with qualified, fair-minded individuals who are committed to civil 和 human rights 和 social 和 economic justice so that our legal system can serve us all.”
